Finger Lakes Medical Associates, LLC, was formed February 1, 1996 as a result of the partnering between two established medical practices now representing more than 50 years of medical service to our community. Today we are fortunate to be the largest multi-specialty practice in the Finger Lakes. Our service area includes Ontario, Wayne, Seneca, and Yates counties, which encompasses a population of about 275,000. The majority of our patients reside in Geneva and we continue to draw a significant number from the Finger Lakes Region. We have approximately 115 dedicated employees and have 24 physicians, six which are in a unique partnership between FLMA and Rochester General Hospital, discussed below.

Stephanie Ahmed, MD, OG/GYN joined our practice in 2009. She was degreed from the Bowman Gray School of Medicine, Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, NC. Timothy Malins, MD, Cardiologist, joined FLMA in 2011 and was degreed from University of Washington's School of Medicine in Seattle. Both completed fellowships in their specialties at Strong Memorial Health in Rochester and fell in love with the Finger Lakes and chose to remain here. Dr. Ahmed recently accepted terms to become a partner with our practice while Dr. Malins is part of a cardiology service relationship we have established with Rochester General Hospital.

Partnership with Rochester General Hospital (RGH) in Cardiology: The expert cardiologists at Finger Lakes Medical Associates see our patients here in Geneva and if specialty procedures are needed they are associated with the respected Rochester Heart Institute at Rochester General Hospital. Vice-President Amy Craib stewards the prestigious RGH Heart Center which has been recognized by Thompson Reuters as one of the nation's Top 100 hospitals for heart care. Experienced heart doctors delivering outstanding patient-centered care have helped RGH win this award 8 times; something only 16 other hospitals nationwide can claim. RGH is a Cleveland Clinic heart surgery center.

Professional Support:

Finger Lakes Medical Associates has instituted an electronic patient recordkeeping system

FLMA has a solid group of Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners, as well as our 2009 Testing Center, which performs Echocardiograms, Stress Echocardiograms, Stress Testing, Holter Monitoring, EKG, OB testing (1st, 2nd, 3rd trimester ultrasounds, OB AFI and OB Biophysical Profile), GYN testing (Pelvic Ultrasound, DEXA Scan), as well as complete Abdominal tests to evaluate the abdominal organs. The testing center is a referral center – this means you will be sent here by one of our physicians for testing if/when deemed necessary.

Blue Choice, Preferred Care, Group Health Insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid are the third party players in this area. Managed care has impacted our market very little. Current reimbursement is based on a percentage of RBRVS and paid under a discounted fee-for-service schedule.
